All the vehicles imported from Japan must be Left-Hand Drive (LHD)
In Bermuda, there is no inspection required for imported cars.
Import Duty
The Customs Department of Bermuda relies on the Harmonized System 2012 for its tariff duties, which, on average, add about 20% to the country’s revenue.
Customs duties are calculated using the transaction value of goods and the valuation rules set forth by the World Trade Organization.
Passenger vehicles incur an import duty of 75% for the first $10,000 and 150% for the rest, except for vehicles with ten or more seats and hybrids at 33.5%.
The actual level of tax duty on a vehicle belonging to a goods-carrying class is 33.5%. A motorcycle will be treated the same as some cars, with a 33.5% duty.
