Age Restriction

Vehicles should not be older than 5 years in order to be imported in Myanmar.

Left-hand Drive

Only left-hand drive vehicles can be imported into the country

Inspection

There is no JAAI test requirement in Myanmar. Apart from the standard documentation necessary for a vehicle to be exported from Japan, there is no inspection requirement. 

Import Duties and Taxes on Used Cars in Myanmar

Following are the import tax rates applied to vehicles 

Engine size 1350cc or under 

  • Custom duty - 30%

  • Commercial Tax- 25%

Engine size 1350cc - 2000cc

  • Custom duty - 40%

  • Commercial Tax- 25%

Engine size 2000cc - 5000cc

  • Custom duty - 40%

  • Commercial Tax- 25%

Engine size 5000cc or above

  • Custom duty - 40%

  • Commercial Tax- 25%

Documents Required for Import of Vehicle in Myanmar

  • Bill of Lading 

  • Import License 

  • Title and Registration Certificate 

  • Other documents (as directed by Custom Authorities)
