Age Restriction

There is no age limitation on the import of used automobiles in Mozambique.

Right-Hand Drive Vehicles

Left-hand drive automobiles are not allowed to be imported in Mozambique, and you can only import right-hand automobiles, with the exception of some special vehicles such as ambulances.

Inspection Method

All imported automobiles shipped to Mozambique must go through an Intertek inspection in Japan. The vehicle is given a MOZ inspection number. Keep in mind that you will have to apply for a MOZ number at a local Intertek office.

Import Duties and Taxes on Used Cars in Mozambique

The custom duty applied on the used vehicles is based on engine displacement:

Engine size less than 1500cc - 25%

Engine size higher than 1500cc - 40%

Custom duty on single vans - 20%

Custom duty on Mini bises - 0%

Advance Payments in Mozambique

From the reservation date, our customers have up to three working days to make the full payment. In case the payment is not received, the reservation will be canceled. The shipping procedure of the vehicle begins after receiving 70% or more of the payment. In case of partial deposit (70%), customers must pay the remaining amount within five working days after the ship has left the departure port. In case of failure to make the payment on time, the vehicle could be resold and your deposit confiscated to cover the damage caused. Please make sure to plan your finances accordingly before placing an order as SAT Japan will not be responsible for any complaints.

When my vehicle reached the port, I was expecting many unexpected costs because friends had warned me that importing a car can become expensive. Luckily, the paperwork from SAT Japan was prepared properly, so the clearance process was smoother than I imagined. That gave me much more confidence in the company than any advertisement could. After collecting the car, I drove it for a few days before writing this review. The Toyota is comfortable, easy to control in traffic, and uses very little fuel. The air conditioning works well, which is important in our weather. The only thing I may improve later is replacing the wheel covers to give it a fresher appearance.
