Used Cars Import Rules and Regulations in the Pakistan

Age Restriction

According to the policy from 2006, vehicles not older than three years from the date of manufacturing can be imported into Pakistan. 

Commercial vehicles not older than five years from the date of manufacturing can be imported into the country.

Right-Hand Drive Vehicles

All the vehicles imported from Japan must be Right Hand Drive (RHD)

Inspection

No specific inspection is required on the import of used vehicles.

Import Duties and Taxes on Used Cars in Pakistan

  • New vehicles with a capacity of up to 1,300cc are charged 50% import duty. 

  • Cars with a capacity up to 1800cc are charged 65% import duty. 

  • Vehicles with a capacity of more than 1800cc are charged 75% import duty.

Though the majority of the vehicles sold in Pakistan are 1300 or below, the government is encouraging the import of larger luxury cars.

  • Original commercial invoice 

  • Original certificate of registration and title 

  • Bill of lading (BL) 

  • Original invoice

  • ID card/passport copy

  • Vehicle license document or insurance certificate
